Chloe’s Corner: Tips and Tricks for Winterizing Your World

Community

Welcome to first ever installment of Chloe’s Corner! Today we will share tips and tricks for creating the perfect winter wonderland in World to Build.

As Christmas approaches, it’s time to start thinking about how we can transform our worlds into cozy, festive places. In this post, I will share some of my favorite ways to winterize your own world and create a magical atmosphere for the season.

Building

First and foremost, deck the halls! Incorporating seasonal items and decorations into your world is a great way to add a festive touch and keep things fresh and interesting for your players. From snowflakes and icicles to holiday lights and decorations, there are countless ways to bring the magic of the season to your world.

Remember, World to Build is a voxel based game, which means you can look online for inspiration! Try searching for “Christmas Voxels” on Google or Pinterest. You’ll find a wealth of creative ideas and designs to inspire your own creations. Just remember to only use these images for inspiration, and never steal or copy someone else’s work. Creativity and originality are key in World to Build, so always strive to create something unique and special.

Another fun way to winterize your world is to add some winter-themed activities and games. You can create a snowball fight area, a sledding hill, or even a holiday-themed scavenger hunt. This will give your players something fun and engaging to do while they enjoy the winter atmosphere of your world.

Scripting

Additionally, you can also add some holiday cheer to your World to Build world by using scripting to create custom holiday events and experiences. With scripting, you can create special holiday-themed games, quests, and activities that will delight and entertain your players.

For example, you could create a Santa’s workshop where players can help Santa prepare for Christmas. You could also create a holiday scavenger hunt where players have to find hidden presents and decorations throughout your world. The possibilities are endless, and with a little creativity and some scripting skills, you can create unique and memorable holiday experiences for your players.

If you’re new to scripting, don’t worry! There are plenty of resources and tutorials available online that can help you get started. You can also join the World to Build community via the forums or Discord (13+) and ask for help or advice from other experienced scripters.

The World to Build documentation

If you want to learn how to script and create custom games and experiences in World to Build, I highly recommend learning Lua. Lua is a powerful, versatile programming language that is commonly used for scripting in video games. In World to Build, Lua is the fundamental building block for every game and script. By learning Lua, you can create your own unique and engaging holiday experiences for your players and take your World to Build creations to the next level. There are many online tutorials and resources available for learning Lua, so get started today and see what you can create!

Designs

One of the most exciting features of World to Build is the ability to create your own custom designs and avatar items using the design editor. With the design editor, you can create almost anything you can imagine, from small things like candy canes, to things like body parts or accessories.

Once you’ve created your designs, you can upload them to World to Build for other players to use in their own worlds. This is a great way to share your creativity with the community and help others create their own magical winter wonderlands.

If you’re a skilled designer and want to make some extra Q-Bits and BuildBux by selling your own body parts and accessories you designed in the World to Build marketplace, you can submit your designs for review by the World to Build team.

To submit your designs for review, simply create your design using the design editor and save it to your inventory. Then, visit the your design and select the “Submit to Marketplace” option. You will be asked to provide some basic information about your design, including its name, description, what you are submitting, and the cost you recommend it be sold for.

Once you’ve submitted your design for review, it will be reviewed by the World to Build team to ensure it meets the quality and content standards of the marketplace. If your design is approved, it will be added to the marketplace for other players to purchase and equip to their avatar!

Conclusion

In conclusion, winterizing your world in World to Build is a fun and creative way to celebrate the holiday season. With these tips and tricks, you can create a beautiful and immersive winter wonderland that your players will love. Happy building!
